Cali Rivera, formerly the longtime sous chef at Manhattan’s celebrated Prune restaurant, is an independent chef, culinary consultant and caterer.

A native of Honduras with a degree in Anthropology, Cali spent three years in the valley of Copan, learning basic cooking techniques derived from the indigenous Maya.  It is there, working without electricity, that he came to understand the value of the hearth as a kitchen’s essential feature.  Cali continued his training at The French Culinary Institute.

Cali has been leading regular evening cooking classes at The Brooklyn Cottage since its inception, creating dazzlingly inventive culinary intersections with such monthly themes as Work, Dirt and Exuberance.
